When the sun is shining, we often reach for an ice cold beer or cooler for a refreshing drink.  But sometimes too many of those can leave our heads pounding the next morning.  If you’re looking for something to quench your thirst, sans alcohol, here are five of my favourite mocktails.  All the flavour, none of the hangover.

Green Apple Martini

This mocktail has sophistication written all over. Sipping this martini makes me feel like Audrey Hepburn in the movie Breakfast at Tiffany’s, or like James Bond, “Shaken, not stirred”. It’s light, refreshing and deliciously easy to make. I found it at Jagruti’s Cooking Odyssey.

Margarita

It’s 5’o clock somewhere.  My go to vacation drink when I’m relaxing on the beach in Mexico is usually a margarita.  I love the contrast of the salt lined rim and the tart lime.  This mocktail version from Liz on Call, is made with all the flavour, but no tequila.  Trust me, you won’t feel like you’re missing out.

Coconut Fizz

Nothing says tropical like coconut and this mocktail is full of tropical vibes.  For those looking for a low carb option, this drink has only 3 net carbs so you can indulge and enjoy without worry. Courtesy of Women’s Health Magazine

Jasmine Ginger Iced Tea

Kingfield Kitchen really knows how to blend complimentary flavours into something magical. This is an energizing twist to the regular iced tea we’re used to in the summer.

Grapefruit Paloma Mocktail

Traditional palomas use a sugary grapefruit flavoured soda.  What I love about this version from All The Healthy Things, is that the ingredients are fresh, making it a healthier choice.  You can adjust the flavours to your liking; for instance I skip the maple syrup as I prefer my mocktail a bit more tart.
